Nick Edbrooke
Regarding my legal credentials, I graduated in law from Oxford University, and am now a freelance solicitor, having formerly practiced for several years in a major law firm. Since leaving the ‘billable hour world’ I have over 10 years’ experience advising in business on my own terms. I’ve acted for major corporations like Google and Disney, and negotiated deals against the likes of Sky, the European Union, easyJet, Booking.com, American Express and Vodafone.
I also have a vast array of experience in litigation, having represented clients in the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal, the High Court, the County Court and the Intellectual Property Court. Knowing how cases are actually run and having a feel for their merits is a key asset when advising clients outside the courtroom.
Most importantly I’m also a recording artist and musician! I play guitar and am the co-founder/songwriter in Dissolved Girl, a ‘trip rock’ band based in London. I handle all of the legal aspects of running a band and being a recording musician. So I know first hand how difficult it can be for musicians traversing the music industry.
I don’t think there are many lawyers with such wide and varied legal experience who are also recording artists. This puts me in a great position to help other musicians as I have first hand experience.
I could work for one of the major labels or a music law firm. But what I really want to do is help independent musicians like you. It’s so much more rewarding.
